Everage is turning out to be a bargain buy for trainer Craig Carmody after her victory in the Lightning Ridge 2YO Plate (1000m) at Canberra on Sunday.
Everage (2f Zizou – Quipster by Snippets) was coming off a second placing behind Overreach in the LR Widden Stakes and, with the benefit of a rails ride by Nathan Berry, was able to score a narrow win over fellow Inglis yearling sale graduates Raise No Doubt, Meticulously and Torio Magic.
Connections of Everage banked $63,000 courtesy of a $50,000 Inglis Bonus added to first prizemoney. She has now earned $154,550 after changing hands for $20,000 from Holbrook Thoroughbreds at the 2012 Inglis Classic Sale.
Her sire Zizou stands at Turangga Farm and he also sired Marseille Roulette to win the $250,000 Inglis Classic (1200m) at Rosehill last month.
Zizou (Fusaichi Pegasus) was a Listed winner of the 2006 VRC Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington and he followed up with seconds to Sleek Chassis (G1 Blue Diamond), Meurice (G2 Todman Slipper) and Forensics (G1 Golden Slipper).
Everage’s dam Quipster comes from a precocious Adelaide family. Second dam Funster (Rory’s Jester) won four sprints and was runner-up in the 1997 LR Dequetteville Stakes. Third dam Alshandegha (Vain) was a G3 winner of the 1987 VATC Debutante Stakes.
Quipster has a yearling filly by Time Thief and a filly foal by Dane Shadow.
