Zenyatta foal put down in Kentucky

Zenyatta has lost her latest foal in the week leading up to the 31st Breeders’ Cup.

The War Front – Zenyatta filly, born on April 19, was put down by vets after a paddock accident at Lane’s End Farm on Wednesday.

“We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Zenyatta’s filly, affectionately nicknamed Z Princess,” owners Jerry and Ann Moss said.  “She was a member of our family and it’s a heartbreaking loss.”

Zenyatta first two foals are colts – a 2YO named Cozmic One (Bernardini) and yearling named Ziconic (Tapit).  The mare wasn’t bred this year.

Zenyatta (Street Cry) won the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic and 2009 Breeders’ Cup Classic.  She was perfect in 19 starts leading up to the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic but was beaten a head by Blame in her career finale.
