Ygritte 30th stakes winner by Snitzel

Ygritte delivered a perfectly timed reminder for Easter Sale buyers when she proved too strong in Thursday’s $150,000 LR Gosford Guineas (1200m).

Trained by Gerald Ryan for owner Carl Holt, she is the 30th stakes winner by Snitzel, who is currently fifth on the Australian sires’ premiership with $5.21 million in progeny prizemoney.  He has sired 9 Australian stakes winners this season including the two new Group 1 winners Wandjina and Sweet Idea.

Sweet Idea was the 48th Group 1 winner either bred or sold by Arrowfield in the last 30 years when she was successful in the The Galaxy.

Ygritte was purchased by Kitchwin Hills for $135,000 from Arrowfield’s draft at the 2013 Inglis Classic Sale.  She has also been Group 3 placed five times behind top-class talent such as Hallowed Crown, Mossfun and Eloping.

She will tackle Group 3 company again at her likely next start in the J H B Carr Stakes on April 18.  Her dam Deputy Lil (French Deputy) is a half-sister to stakes winner Estee.  Second dam is New Zealand Horse of the Year Tycoon Lil.

Sadly, Deputy Lil died in 2013 after leaving a third filly to Not A Single Doubt.  That filly, named My Girl Lil, was bought by Sunshine Coast trainer Stuart Kendrick for $70,000 from last year’s Inglis Classic Sale.

Arrowfield and Katsumi Yoshida continue to breed from Tycoon Lil’s daughter Empress Lily who has a Redoute’s Choice filly in the Stud’s consignment for this week’s Easter Sale.

Arrowfield has two fillies and four colts among Snitzel’s 42 lot representation at the Inglis Easter Sale.
