Winning turn for Perfectly Ready

The wheel turned full circle for Vinery and trainer Mick Price when Romstar won at Sale on Thursday.

Romstar (3g Perfectly Ready – Loving Is Fun by Spectacular Love) scored by two lengths in the Caroma Dorf Maiden Plate (1400m).  Price trains him for Neville Gibson, Dick McCarthy and Vinery’s Peter Orton, Conor Phelan and Adam White.

He is a November foal and was a $65,000 buy from Bluegables Farm at the 2010 NZ Bloodstock Karaka yearling sale.

Price also prepared Perfectly Ready for Vinery and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa.  The colt was G1 placed in the 2005 Blue Diamond Stakes and he trained on to defeat older horses in the G1 Goodwood Hcp at Morphettville.

“Perfectly Ready is stamping them with that early speed,” Price said after a recent visit to his home base at Brighthill Farm in New Zealand.  “He has a rosy future at stud.”

Perfectly Ready (More Than Ready) was crowned NZ’s Champion first-season sire by earnings, winners and wins in 2010-11.  His first-crop also included the G2 performers Beejay Belle and Queen Boudicca.

He emulated More Than Ready who was Australia’s Champion first-season sire in 2004-05.  The Vinery breed-shaper has been Australia’s Champion Sire of 2YOs on two occasions siring the likes of Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Phelan Ready.

“We recognise how hard it is to win any premiership, let alone anything relating to two-year-olds in New Zealand,” Brighthill Stud’s Nick King said.  “We’re looking forward to seeing those excellent first crop horses come back as three-year-olds.”

Bede Murray’s Perfectly Ready gelding Isle be Ready can keep the momentum going in Race 2 at Rosehill on Saturday.  He was runner-up to crack colt Smart Missile in the LR Breeders’ Plate at Randwick and is coming off a last-start win at Canterbury.
