Nothing to Lose has died in a paddock accident at Willowbend Stud in Queensland. The USA-bred stallion was 12 years old.
Nothing To Lose (Sky Classic) was a Group 1 winner of the 2004 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland and his loss is a body-blow for Willowbend’s David and Ben Lucas.
He began stud duties at the height of the Equine Influenza crisis and, as such, his numbers were well down in 2007. His better winners include Silver City (NZ Listed Wellesley Stakes), Lose It (Grafton Guineas) and Sunshine Coast specialist Venture On who was runner-up to Mental in the LR Daybreak Lover Stakes at Eagle Farm last year.
Overall, Nothing To Lose has sired 14 winners in his first two crops at a 40% strike-rate. His most prolific winner to date has been Epic Terra who made it 6 wins in 17 starts with a go-to-whoa victory at Doomben on Saturday.
Nothing To Lose stood alongside Clang and Natural Destiny at Willowbend which is based at Beaudesert.
