Welcome winner for Patapan

First season sire Patapan was represented by his initial winner in New Zealand on Saturday.

Napatap (NZ) ran away with the Listed Welcome Stakes (1000m) for trainer Paul Harris after back-to-back seconds at Riccarton.

Bred by Nick and Anne-Marie King, Napatap was purchased by New Zealand Bloodstock as agent from Brighthill Farm at the 2011 Karaka Festival Sale for $6,000.

Napatap (2c Patapan – Priscilla by Manntari) is a half-brother to Eagle Farm winner Stone Pony (Monolith).   Second dam Hanalei (Sir Tristram) is a sister to Never Quit who was a G2 winner of the AJC Frank Packer Plate and GCTC Prime Minister’s Cup.

Patapan is a son of Stravinsky standing at Brighthill Farm.  He won 16 sprints up to G3 level in Italy with a career high coming in the G3 Premio Umbria (1200m) in Rome.  He broke the race record in a time of 1.08s.

Patapan has one entry in the Karaka Ready to Run Sale, the gelding from Mangatiti Bloodstock at Lot 106 out of the Volksraad mare Dubbe.  His dam is a half-sister to the stakes winner Pompeii Chief (Pompeii Court).

He clocked the fastest time on the second day of the Te Rapa breeze-ups in a slick 10.20 seconds.  He was pin-hooked for $9,000 out of the Brighthill consignment at the 2011 NZB Festival yearling sale.
