War Chant leads roster at Yarradale Stud

Yarradale Stud has announced War Chant (USA) will stand a fourth southern season at its Gidgegannup property in 2014.

WAR CHANT (Danzig):  Initially shuttled to Western Australia on a three year deal with Three Chimneys Stud in Kentucky before that was extended after record-breaking results at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions.

War Chant’s first Sunspeed yearlings averaged $97,000 and Yarradale has placed a $16,000 (plus gst) fee on his services this year.  “He’s a seasoned traveller and takes shuttling in his stride,” Yarradale owner Ron Sayers said.  “He has built up a tremendous record in North America with an overall winning strike-rate of 70% and it’s even better on grass.

“This year’s fee gives commercial breeders an opportunity to make a nice return on their investment.”

FROST GIANT (Giant’s Causeway):  Returns for his second season at Yarradale at an unchanged fee of $9,000 (plus gst).

Frost Giant was a Group 1 winner himself and has taken New York State by storm winning the first and second season titles.  He was labelled a “white-hot stallion” by Daily Racing Form after his filly Frosty Bay won a stakes race at Saratoga last year.

A gleaming chestnut with a big white blaze, Frost Giant has built up a buoyant 13.5% stakes performers to runners strike-rate and his stock are right at home on grass.

Yarradale supported Frost Giant with many of its best mares last year.  Among them were the stakes winners Halibery (G2 Schillaci Stakes), Heather (G2 Emancipation Stakes), La Sirenuse (G3 Carlyon Cup) & Metallic Storm (LR Placid Ark Stakes) and the dams of stakes winners Girl In Flight (G3 Auraria Stakes) & Ready To Rip (G3 Bletchingly Stakes).

GINGERBREAD MAN (Shamardal) :  Colonial bred Group 1 winner gearing up for his second season at stud and is great value for breeders at a $5,000 (plus gst) fee.

The Shamardal sireline keeps going from strength-to-strength.  The Darley champion has already sired 16 stakes winners in 2014, a figure no other stallion can beat.

SCANDAL KEEPER (Danzig):  Completed a couple of quiet years after arriving in WA but covered 159 mares in 2012.  They will be up and winning as two and three year-olds when the yearlings from his next book are at the sales.

Scandal Keeper has a better than 60% winning strike-rate and he has never been better value at $6,000 (plus gst).

MUSKET (Redoute’s Choice):  Group 2 winner of the Shannon Stakes at Rosehill and his first crop are starting to hit their straps with 12 individual winners in four States this season.

Doomben winner Execute At Dawn leads the way ahead of Randwick winner Stocky while local trainer Vern Brockman doubled up with South Dakota at Pinjarra.

Musket will stand for a $5,000 (plus gst) service fee.

DISCORSI (Galileo):  Flemington 2YO stakes winner and a half-brother to Champion Sunspeed stallion Oratorio and Group 1 winning mare Sea Siren.  His first two year-old winners are in pipeline and showing ability with many of Perth’s leading trainers.

Discorsi is available at a $3,500 (plus gst) fee.

HERITAGE (Flying Spur):  Under-rated stallion who flies under the radar despite a better than 50% winning strike-rate.  Has proven he can get a good stakes winner and always seems to have a nice city class horse like recent Belmont winners Woken and Flying Time.

Heritage is a half-brother to Northerly and he has been priced at $3,000 (plus gst).

PATRONIZE (Redoute’s Choice):  Three-quarter brother to Excel And Excel who stands at Darling View Thoroughbreds in association with Yarradale.  Brilliant youngster Jestpatim was his first-crop leader with a four length victory at Ascot and a placing in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Patronize also sired recent Ascot winners Silver Speck and Miki Two Toes from limited numbers.  He is bubbling just under a 60% winning strike-rate and there are bigger books to come after Yarradale bought into him last year.  He will stand for a $4,000 (plus gst) fee.
