War Chant heads roster at Yarradale Stud

Kentucky shuttler War Chant (USA) will head Yarradale Stud’s roster in 2012.

War Chant (Danzig) will stand for a $22,000 (inc gst) service fee.  “He covered a quality book of 104 mares in his first season here last year,” Yarradale owner Ron Sayers said.  “We’re really looking forward to his first West Australian foals this spring.”

War Chant (USA) shuttles from the world-renowned Three Chimneys Farm.  He has sired 28 stakes winners including last year’s G1 Santa Anita Derby winner Midnight Interlude who is due to resume racing for Bob Baffert after an extended winter spell.

Yarradale is also home to fellow Danzig stallion Scandal Keeper (USA) and his fee has been increased to $8,800 (inc gst) after a perfect start at stud.  He has sired six winners from six starters including brilliant Victorian based sprinter Zamorar.

Scandal Keeper starred at the Yarradale Sale earlier this month when his yearlings sold to $160,000.  “His progeny have generated a lot of interest,” Sayers explained.  “The bookings are already coming in at a pleasing rate.”

Discorsi (Galileo) is another Yarradale sire in the news.  His younger half-sister Sea Siren won the G1 BTC Cup and G1 Doomben 10,000 this month and she will be gunning for a clean-sweep of the winter sprints in the G1 Stradbroke on June 9.

Discorsi was a two year-old stakes winner at Flemington and is a younger half-brother to leading Sunspeed stallion Oratorio (Aus).  He has 70 first-crop foals on the ground in Western Australia.

Musket arrived at Yarradale in 2010 after a one-off season at Darley’s Twin Hills base in NSW.  He is by champion sire of sires Redoute’s Choice and is a three-quarter brother to Makybe Diva.

Musket’s first-crop yearlings have been popular at the sales this year.  A Musket filly topped the Tasmanian Magic Millions at $60,000 and a Musket colt topped the Inglis Melbourne Autumn yearling sale at $58,000.
