Victorian based Wanted was the only sire to have two lots slot into the Top 10 leader-board at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale on Tuesday.
His colt from Gal Express (Success Express) was purchased by Singapore trainer Theo Keiser for $170,000 and his filly out of Belleluia (Bel Esprit) will stay in Queensland after making $160,000 to the bid of Australasian Thoroughbreds director Jamie Bourke.
Wanted stands at Eliza Park International and his high-priced colt was bred by the O’Brien family’s Lauriston Thoroughbreds. He was sold for $35,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to Timely Truce (Brief Truce) who was stakes-placed as a juvenile at Caulfield and Flemington.
“It’s a great result for Wanted,” vendor Robyn Wise said. “The colt will have every chance with Theo. He’s just a really fast horse and it showed when he breezed 10.05s.”
Wanted was popular at the major yearling sales earlier this year with colts purchased by Gai Waterhouse ($220,000 – Gold Coast Magic Millions) and Team Hawkes ($180,000 – Inglis Melbourne Premier).
His latest crop of two year-olds are gearing up for a break-out season – there were 130 foals from his third year at EPI following 59 and 74 foals in his first two books.
The first crop was led by Contract Racing gelding Rough Justice who collected the most incentives offered by VOBIS in 2014-15. And his second included Dead Or Alive (LR Oaklands Plate) plus Most Wanted who has just been sold to Hong Kong after an eye-catching debut victory at Flemington.
Wanted (Fastnet Rock) won a G1 Newmarket Hcp (defeating Starspangledbanner) and he stands for a $16,500 (inc gst) fee at Eliza Park International.
