VOBIS Star returns in Aurie’s Star

Group 1 star Trust In A Gust will launch his spring campaign in the G3 Aurie’s Star Hcp (1200m) at Flemington on August 8.

The 2014 Super VOBIS Horse of the Year has been hampered by injuries since winning the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes – G1 Toorak Hcp double last October.  In his only other start after the spring carnival, he was narrowly beaten by Red Bomber in the VOBIS Gold Sprint at Caulfield in April.

A trip to Brisbane for the G1 Stradbroke Hcp was called off after he sustained minor lacerations when being loaded on the plane.  “He’s moving along nicely,” trainer Darren Weir said.  “Brad Rawiller galloped him at Ballarat on Saturday and said he’s in good order.

The rising five year-old stallion will resume in the Flemington feature and then head straight to the G1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 29.  He will focus on weight-for-age races and there’s also the possibility of an international campaign this season.

Trust In A Gust (Keep The Faith) is a tremendous advertisement for the Victorian industry and, in particular, Swettenham Stud who bred and sold him for $45,000 at the 2012 Melbourne Premier yearling sale.  He is scheduled to cover his first mares at Swettenham in 2016.
