Vinery shuttlers star at Ocala and Arqana

Vinery sires Congrats (USA) and Myboycharlie (Ire) were in the limelight at the Ocala and Arqana yearling sales earlier this week.

Congrats sold the second most expensive filly on the leaderboard at the Ocala Select yearling sale in Florida.  The Congrats – Wasted Wisdom (Gold Fever) filly made $120,000 to the bid of agent Nick de Meric.  Consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, she is out of a stakes placed half sister to Group winner Desert Code.

Congrats champion Turbulent Descent will start an odds-on favourite in the G1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga on Friday.  She bolted in when racing over the same track and trip in the G1 Test Stakes last year.

Turbulent Descent returned to racing this year with a convincing victory in the LR Desert Stormer Stakes at Hollywood Park on June 17.

Myboycharlie had four of his yearlings average 57,000 euros at the prestigious Arqana Sale in France this week.  Deauville buyers know him well after a brilliant G1 victory in the 2007 Prix Morny.

The top-priced Myboycharlie at Arqana was the 85,000 euros filly out of the Bertolini mare Chicasaw.  The dam is a half-sister to G3 Cornwallis Stakes winner Majestic Missile (Royal Applause).

Myboycharlie’s first Australian yearlings sold to $180,000 at the 2012 majors and they were targeted by leading trainers Gai Waterhouse, Peter Moody, David Hayes and Mick Price.

Congrats (A P Indy) shuttles to Vinery for a $22,000 (inc gst) fee and his second southern book is already full.  Myboycharlie (Danetime) stands for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee.
