Vancouver shuttles to Kentucky

Coolmore has announced G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver will shuttle to Ashford Stud in Kentucky for the 2017 northern breeding season.

Vancouver is currently serving his first book of mares in the Hunter Valley at a fee of $66,000.

The son of Medaglia D’Oro was an unbeaten juvenile winning the LR Breeders Plate, G3 Canonbury Stakes and G2 Todman Stakes as stepping stones to the Golden Slipper.

Vaincouver resumed as a spring 3yo but lost his perfect record behind Japonisme in the G3 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill.  He was spelled and set for a Royal Ascot campaign earlier this year, however, his new owners and trainer Aidan O’Brien ran out of time to get him ready for the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

“He’s an exceptionally good-looking individual who should sire both racehorses and sales horses,” Ashford manager Dermot Ryan said.  “I think USA breeders will be very impressed when they see him.”

Coolmore Stud purchased a controlling interest in Vancouver that valued him at a reported $40 million.
