Vain victory for Adelaide Psychic

Eliza Park stallion Shinzig snared his first stakes winner when Psychic Mick scored an emphatic victory in the LR Vain Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Psychic Mick (3g Shinzig – Super Fund by Bianconi) put the issue well beyond doubt with a three length victory over 1200m.  The Adelaide trained speedster was unbeaten in three starts at Morphettville earlier this year and he maintained a 100% strike-rate when returning for the spring carnival.

Psychic Mick is trained by Daniel Clarken for a partnership headed by Michael Duffield.  He was sold by Eliza Park for just $10,000 at the 2011 Adelaide Magic Millions.  His dam Super Fund was trained by Lee Freedman and won by five lengths at Sandown in a career curtailed to just four starts.

Will Clarken bought his younger half-brother by Bel Esprit for $44,000 at this year’s Adelaide Magic Millions.  Super Fund has since missed to Court of Jewels and Set Alight.

Shinzig is a son of Danehill and he snatched a G1 in the 2008 C F Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.  Tasmanian based Beer Belly is his only other winner from 9 to race.  Shinzig stands for a $6,600 (inc gst) at Eliza Park Kerrie.
