Tycoon tops trio for Aquis Farm

Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) and Aquis Farm added another $525,000 to its spend at the Magic Millions National Sale on the Gold Coast this week.

Blue Sky’s Julian Blaxland and Aquis CEO Justin Fung bought three lots at the Yearling Sale following $1.59 million (Foal Sale) and $7.60 million (Broodmare Sale).

Topping the trio was a $300,000 Written Tycoon – More Black Magic filly purchased in association with Newcastle trainer Kris Lees.  “Physically, she was the filly of the sale,” Blaxland said.  “She looks a two-year-old and Aquis is really happy to be supporting Kris with their first horse together.

“Written Tycoon is doing a wonderful job and, compared to other fillies of similar quality, she looks a great buy.”

Originally purchased by Belmont Bloodstock’s Damon Gabbedy for $110,000 at the Perth Magic Millions in February, she was resold for a significantly higher price on the Gold Coast.  Her dam More Black Magic (More Than Ready) is from the same family as G1 Railway Stakes winner Covertly (Metal Storm).

Blaxland bought another three lots for separate clients including a $100,000 Stratum colt from Adelaide stakes performer Mother’s Milk (Savabeel).

Other yearlings knocked down to FBAA members included a Denman colt to Bluegrass Bloodstock and a Camelot filly to Hancock Quality Bloodstock.

Pinhook Bloodstock’s Dave Mee bought fillies by Camelot and Lonhro that were bargain buys at $45,000 and $42,500 respectively.  The Camelot is a half-sister to Hong Kong stakes winner Planet Ruler (Danehill) and the Lonhro is a half-sister to G1 VRC Oaks winner Kirramosa (Alamosa).
