Two options for Are There Any

Contract Racing’s David and Jenny Moodie tightened their grip on the Swettenham Stud Summer Championship at Caulfield on Wednesday.

On an afternoon when winners skirted the outside fence, Are There Any won Heat 8 of the Series in the Equiano Speed Yearlings Hcp (1440m) which was restricted to fillies and mares.

Are There Any (4m Exceed And Excel – Honest Politician by Distorted Humor) is raced by the Moodies in partnership with Peter Anastasiou and Nick Psaltis.  It was her fourth success in 11 starts after previous wins at Stawell, Geelong and Sandown last year.

She is by Darley Champion Excel And Excel and is the first foal of Honest Politician who won 8 races including the LR Heatherlie Hcp at Caulfield for Anastasiou.

Contract Racing is already doubled-handled for the Swettenham Final in February 1with earlier winners Pillar Of Creation (Heat 5) and Amaethon (Heat 7).

Are There Any could cross Bass Strait instead for the G3 Bow Mistress Stakes on February 3.  “We tipped her out before the spring with that race in mind,” trainer Peter Moody said.  “She’s no great shakes but she’s a mare that we might be able to aim at those black type events in Tassie.”
