Turffontein service fee set at $11,000

The service fee for exciting Blue Gum Farm stallion Turffontein has been set at $11,000 (inc gst) for 2015.

A multiple Group 1 winner himself, Turffontein is already siring multiple Group winners with just two crops of racing age.  In fact, his progeny have already won six stakes races in the current racing season!

In a year of successful young stallions like Medaglia d’Oro, I Am Invincible, Manhattan Rain, Nicconi and Denman, no second-season sire has more stakes wins than Turffontein and only Medaglia d’Oro has more individual stakes winners.

Turffontein’s first crop leader Fontein Ruby is as tough and as genuine as they come.  She won the G2 Edward Manifold Stakes and the G3 Autumn Classic in the spring and added the LR Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley last Friday night.

The Robert Smerdon trained filly has won 5 races from 1200 to 2000 metres for $880,370 in prizemoney and she’s right on target for the upcoming G1 Australasian Oaks in Adelaide.

Turffontein has only had four runners from his second crop and among them is the brilliant two year old Fontiton.  A dominant six length winner of the RL Inglis Banner on Cox Plate day at Moonee Valley, she came back in the autumn to win the G3 Blue Diamond Preview followed by the G2 Blue Diamond Prelude.

Starting a short priced favourite in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes, the undefeated filly suffered heat stress and a joint injury so her effort to finish a fighting fifth was still first class.  She will be back as a spring three year-old bigger and better than ever.

Turffontein’s third crop yearlings this year have fetched up to $170,000 with two colts and a filly both realising over $100,000.  An $11,000 service fee represents terrific value in 2015.
