Swettenham Stud owner Adam Sangster has confirmed Trust In A Gust will continue his racing career in 2015-16.
Sangster inspected the Group 1 winning stallion at Darren Weir’s Ballarat stable on Monday following the cancellation of his Queensland winter campaign.
Trust In A Gust sustained minor lacerations to his legs in transit to Brisbane but they’re not serious and he will only require a six-week spell before returning to full work.
“Darren and his vet Andrew Cust have been very happy with the horse’s recovery,” Sangster said. “We will set him for weight-for-age races next season and there’s also the possibility of an international campaign after the spring carnival.
“He’s built up a tremendous following in the last 18 months and we felt it would be good to let the racing public support him for another season.”
Trust In A Gust (by Keep The Faith (Sunday Silence) was voted Super VOBIS Horse of the Year in 2013-14 before lifting to another level for Group 1 victories in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) and Toorak Hcp (1600m) earlier this season.
Despite the delayed start to his stud career, Swettenham’s new-look roster for 2015 has been boosted by Group 1 champions Toronado and The Wow Signal along with fellow Irish-bred star Puissance de Lune. To make a booking please contact Chris Belli on 0417 514 552.
