Trotamondo filly scores at Scone

Yarraman Park Stud freshman Trotamondo recorded his first winner at Scone on Sunday.

The Albert Stapleford trained filly Magondo scored an all-the-way victory in the HTBA 2YO Hcp (1100m) at her first run back from an 11 week spell.  She had been placed on debut at Gosford in January and then ran third to top filly Later Gator at Canterbury in February.

Magondo (2f Trotamondo – Magdalena by Snaadee) was a $15,000 buy for the veteran Central Coast conditioner from Yarraman Park at the 2011 Inglis Scone Select Sale.  Stapleford also prepared Yarraman Park’s stakes winning sire Magic Albert.

Her dam Magdalena won the Listed WATC Burgess Queen Stakes and was runner-up in the G2 WA Oaks in 1997-98.  The mare had already foaled the stakes performers Cheerful Master and Purrpurrlena by deceased Yarraman sire Catbird.  And she delivered a filly by Yarraman sire I Am Invincible last year.

Trotamondo (Hussonet) was 2005 Chilean Horse-Of-The-Year after winning their 3YO Triple Crown.  He also won the G3 Native Diver Stakes at Hollywood Park at his second run after a year on the sidelines.

Yarraman Park offered his first yearlings for sale at the 2011 majors and they sold up to $100,000.
