Tried And Tired Rules for Team Corstens

Tried And Tired has notched his second stakes win for former Chatswood Stud sire Niello and prominent Victorian breeder Richard Pietrykowski at Flemington.

The LR My Kitchen Rules Stakes (1400m) was also a consolation of sorts for Team Corstens who lost the G1 Australian Cup in the stewards’ room on Saturday.  “The decision earlier today was disappointing,” Leon Corstens said.  “But we knew Tried And Tired would be out there trying his heart out.  He’s been ultra-consistent and really deserved today’s win.”

Tried And Tired (6g Niello – Yawn by Redoute’s Choice) has earned over $465,000 after making just $1,700 as a foal from the Chatswood Stud draft at the 2010 Inglis Great Southern Sale.  He won a Swan Hill maiden in July 2013 and broke through at black-type level in the 2014 Christmas Stakes at Sandown.

Pietrykowski and Chatswood Stud owner Greg Willis teamed up for a Group 3 win earlier this year with Niello mare Nautical in the Bow Mistress Trophy (1200m) at Elwick.

Niello (Octagonal) died prematurely at Chatswood Stud in 2011.  A younger brother to Lonhro, he won the Spring Champion Stakes, Canterbury Guineas & Rosehill Guineas.
