Trelawney brace at Bendigo

Trelawney Stud has catalogued 40 well-related yearlings for the 2011 NZ Bloodstock yearling sales and there have been significant updates to several lots heading to Karaka.

Trelawney is New Zealand’s longest running commercial thoroughbred stud and has a strong tradition of Group 1 winners including seven Melbourne Cups!

Recent G1 winners to graduate from its Cambridge base include Boundless (New Zealand Oaks), Allez Wonder (Toorak Hcp), Wahid (New Zealand Derby) and Vouvray (Queensland Oaks).

Current star November Rain (Stravinsky) was a G2 winner at Te Rapa on December 11 and she has been nominated for the upcoming Wellington and Auckland Cups.

Trelawney-bred four year-olds Cadenzia and Bolton brought up a winning double for the Kiwi stud on Wednesday at Bendigo.  Both are by champion sire Zabeel and will win again before the 2011 Karaka Sale commences.

Cadenzia (4m Zabeel – Grenache by Carnegie) won for the third time in four starts this season in the Caldwell Plumbing Hcp (2400m) on Wednesday.  She is trained by Lee Freedman and was a $350,000 buy from Trelawney at the 2008 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Cadenzia is out of a half-sister to G1 STC Ansett Australia Stakes winner Hill of Grace.

Bolton brought up the double for Zabeel and Trelawney in the Jayco Hcp (1400m) at Bendigo.  He is raced by Team Williams and had won his maiden at the same venue in February before going out for an extended 44 week spell.

Bolton (4g Zabeel – Real Success by Success Express) was a $425,000 Trelawney graduate from the 2008 Inglis Easter yearling sale.  He is a brother to G1 Queensland Oaks winner Vouvray.

Trelawney has catalogued a Darci Brahma – Real Success colt for the NZ Bloodstock Premier yearling sale at Karaka.  He parades early in proceedings as Lot 8.
