Tranquility lands La Trice Classic

Bob and Sandra Peters could have as many as three starters in the $400,000 BMW G2 Perth Cup on New Year’s Day.

Perth’s long-time leading owner-breeders added Tranquility to their Cup repertoire after the Redoute’s Choice mare won the LR La Trice Classic (1800m) on Wednesday.  She joins stablemates Ranger and Western Jewel on the Cup trail.

Tranquility (4m Redoute’s Choice – Creatrix by Umatilla) took a sit behind Premardal and then burst past the Shamardal flyer to win the La Trice by more than a length.  “I probably didn’t need to go when I did,” winning rider William Pike said.  “But I wanted to make sure I was right on top of Premardal.”

Premardal had been the only filly alive for a $100,000 bonus on offer from Geisel Park Stud after her front-running victories in the Jungle Dawn and Starstruck Classics.

Bred by Queensland bloodstock investor Paul Sweeney, Tranquility was a $300,000 purchase from the 2008 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.  Belmont Bloodstock’s Damon Gabbedy signed for the filly on behalf of the Peters, who subsequently bought her dam as well.

The La Trice increased the Redoute’s Choice’s stakes winner tally to 69.  Tranquility’s win came just four days after Grand Jardin graduated as No.68 in the Listed Crawford Stakes at Ascot.

Tranquility’s pedigree features 3 x 3 in-breeeding to the great broodmare Dancing Show, through the half-siblings Shantha’s Choice (dam of Redoute’s Choice) and Umatilla.

Redoute’s Choice’s is enjoying another outstanding season with 7 stakes winners so far this season;  G1 King’s Rose, G2 Rekindled Interest, G3 Drumbeats, SW Kittens, SW Milestone, SW Grand Jardin and SW Tranquility.

The Arrowfield champion has 17 yearlings catalogued for the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, and five of them will be offered by Arrowfield.
