Tough winner for Tasmanian Magic Millions

Tough Future gave a timely reminder that the 2011 Tasmanian Magic Millions yearling sale is just a few days away when he scored a stylish win at Moonee Valley on Friday night.  He angled off the leaders in the straight and stormed home to defeat Change Upacog (Bianconi) and Conquering Journey (Good Journey).

Tough Future (5g Tough Speed – Pride Of Shell by Strathmore Lad) won his maiden at Launceston in February 2010 before transferring to Mark Riley at Mornington.  “We took the blinkers off and I think there’s more in store for him,” Riley said after the Printhouse Graphics Hcp (1200m).  “He’s still learning what it’s all about.”

Tough Future is from a winning sister to Hobart Cup winner Future Shock and his dam is also three quarter sister to the stakes performers Fanta’s Revenge, Strathmore Lass and Strathmore Maid.

The 2011 Tasmanian Magic Millions will be held at Launceston’s Inveresk Showgrounds on Tuesday.  Armidale Stud based sire Tough Speed has six fillies and three colts set to go under the hammer.  The son of Miswaki has had numerous winning updates since the catalogue was printed and he is also the sire of Jay Bee’s Gee Gee who was placed in the G3 Tasmanian Derby on February 5.

Tough Future was entered for the 2007 Tasmanian Magic Millions but was passed-in for $11,000.  He has since accrued $62,000 from 6 wins in 11 starts.
