Timely juvenile winner by Oratorio

Oratorio (Aus) was straight on to the front foot to commence his defence of the Sunspeed 2YO title on Saturday.

His first-starter Our Time Will Come opened the Ascot season with a brave three-quarter length victory over front-runner Storm Power in the Myer Fashion Trophy (1000m).

“She a terrific type and it was a good win coming off a 400m trial,” trainer Paul Jordan said.  “We were a bit worried about Storm Power – she had already raced and was drawn inside our filly – so I told Craig (Staples) to sit outside if we couldn’t cross.”

Our Time Will Come (2f Oratorio – Bantry Bay by Tale of the Cat) is raced by Harvey Crossman’s Lima Syndicate and cost $45,000 from Mungrup Stud at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions.  Crossman and Jordan have a great strike-rate with Oratorio racing multiple city winners like Castle Retreat and Coruscation.

Their latest winner is from Bantry Bay (G3 SAJC Sires’ Produce Stakes).  Her first three foals to race – Bantry Belle (Danehill Express), Bayatorio (Oratorio) & Bomber Bay (Oratorio) – are all winners.  She has a yearling filly by Dick Turpin and foaled another Oratorio colt in August.

Oratorio will be favourite to win his sixth WA 2YO premiership this season and he stands at Mungrup Stud for an $11,000 (inc gst) fee.
