Theophorus tops Inglis Winter Racehorse Sale

The Inglis Winter Racehorse Sale concluded a big week of selling at Newmarket with turnover of $640,000 on Sunday.  

Multiple city winning grey gelding Theophorus (Ignatius) topped yesterday’s sale when selling for $75,000.  The Warwick Farm based galloper has been successful at Rosehill (2) and Warwick Farm among 7 wins from 24 starts.  He was last seen finishing well back in the Listed Australia Day Cup at Randwick won by Fairygem.

In the yearling section, top price of $21,000 was paid for a colt by Darley’s first season sire Ad Valorem (USA).  His dam Venus Was Her Name won on both sides of the Tasman and was also Group placed at Flemington and Ellerslie.

The August Sale at Oaklands on August 19 & 20 is the next auction on the Inglis calendar.  Entries close on July 2.   The BC3 Future Stars Sale will be held at the same venue on Sunday August 22.
