Taxmeifyoucan sparked euphoric scenes from his large group of owners after they hit the jackpot in the $500,000 RL Inglis Guineas (1400m) at Scone on Saturday.
Taxmeifyoucan (3g Ad Valorem – Tis Hopeful by Lycius) arrived down the centre of the track to score by a length over Lunar Rise and Chewychop. “It means as much as any win I’ve had,” trainer Greg Hickman said. “And it’s also great for the owners.”
A Warwick Farm winner as a July two year-old, the gelding returned earlier this year for black-type placings in the G2 Royal Sovereign Stakes and LR Gosford Guineas.
Hickman paid $16,000 for the Inglis Guineas winner at the 2011 Classic Sale. “He was a nice leggy, little black horse and reminded me of Sportsman,” Hickman said recalling a former stable star who banked over $800,000. “Brisbane is tempting but he deserves a break and we will bring him back for the spring carnival.”
Taxmeifyoucan (Danzig) is the 10th stakes winner for Darley Kelvinside shuttler Ad Valorem. His dam Tis Hopeful is from the family of stakes winners Encores, Rubiton, Irradiate, Stage Hit and Sir Laurence.
Ad Valorem has three fillies and a colt catalogued for the Inglis HTBA Scone yearling sale at White Park tomorrow, Sunday May 19.
The catalogue can be viewed online at www.inglis.com.au and on the Inglis Sales iPad App
