Tapit colt for Zenyatta

USA 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta delivered a Tapit colt at Lane’s End Farm on Monday.

A leggy chestnut with a white blaze similar to Zenyatta, he was standing on his own and nursing within an hour.  Zenyatta’s first foal is a yearling colt by Bernardini.  There was no news from owners Jerry and Ann Moss about breeding plans this year.

Zenyatta (Street Cry) won 19 races in a row before going down to Blame at her final start in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Tapit is a Group 1 winning son of Pulpit and he has leapt to prominence within a relatively short space of time.  His initial fee of $15,000 has risen to $125,000 at Gainesway Farm.

Meanwhile, USA 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra has returned to Stonestreet Farm to begin the next stage of her recuperation following abdominal surgery in February.

Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d’Oro) was hospitalized a day after delivering her second foal, a filly by Bernardini.  The filly is healthy and has bonded well with a nurse mare.
