Secret Liaison’s victory in the Swettenham Stud Lord Stakes at Mornington on Thursday was a tremendous result in more ways than one for the sponsors.
Secret Liaison is by Artie Schiller and Swettenham will offer the only yearling by the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner in Australia next year. Adam Sangster’s Nagambie nursery has catalogued the Artie Schiller – Peacock Sally colt as Lot 571 for the Inglis Melbourne Premier in March.
The colt is part of the Swettenham Stud Breeding Venture No.1 and Peacock Sally delivered another colt by Swettenham’s G1 King’s Stand Stakes winner Equiano in September. Sangster has just launched Swettenham Stud’s Breeding Venture No.2 following the overwhelming support from investors in SSBV No.1.
Secret Liaison (4m Artie Schiller – Secret Desire by Jugah) scored her second win at Listed level in the Lord Stakes following the Twilight Glow Stakes at Sandown Hillside in November 2011.
Swettenham’s sole Artie Schiller yearling for sale in 2013 is a colt from USA import Peacock Sally (Marquetry). His dam is a half-sister to Churchill Downs G2 winner Magna Graduate (Honor Grades) who was also G1 placed in the 2006 Dubai World Cup.
Artie Schiller was given a year off shuttling from Kentucky to Australia in 2010, however, Swettenham had Peacock Sally served to southern time and she arrived here in foal to him in April 2011.
Apart from its Artie Schiller colt, Swettenham Stud’s Breeding Venture No.1 will also be selling yearlings by boom sire New Approach, Myboycharlie, Kaphero and Hard Spun at the Inglis Melbourne Premier.
The Swettenham Stud’s Breeding Venture No.2 is a Unit Trust which pools funds to purchase bloodstock with the compliance of ‘Stable Connect’ license holder Adam Timms. It’s also a unique opportunity for those people who would like to be involved with Swettenham Stud but don’t own a mare.
