Former Australian shuttler Supremo has died due to complications from colic. He had been based at Benz Lake Farm in Minnesota since 2005.
Supremo (Gone West – Personal Glory by Danzig) shuttled to Brian Agnew’s Wakefield Stud for three years until 1998. The only stakes winner from the 200 mares he covered in that time was Sportsman.
Trainer by Greg Hickman, Sportsman was a G2 winner of the AJC Expressway, STC Shannon Stakes and STC Peter Pan Stakes. His NZ bred dam Professionelle (Centaine) foaled winners by 8 different sires including the other black-type winners King Of Prussia (Anabaa), Prisoner Of Love (Canny Lad) and Hoystar (Danzero).
Supremo initially retired to Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky after a career that included a G2 victory in the Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita. He eventually ended up in the black-blocks of Minnesota via stints in Virginia and Iowa.
