Singapore Horse of the Year Super Easy (NZ) showed he was back on an upward spiral with a brilliant victory in the Lion City Cup (1200m) at Kranji on Sunday.
Unbeaten at his first 12 starts, the Kiwi-bred four year-old had been winless since taking out the G3 Jumbo Jet Trophy (1400m) last September. Donning blinkers for the first time, the Darci Brahma stallion dashed through a dream run on the fence to account for stablemate Mr Big by over a length.
Super Easy (4h Darci Brahma – Parfore by Gold Brose) has now won 13 races from 17 starts for earnings in excess of $1.78 million for the Joy N Happiness Stable. “It’s a big relief more than anything else,” trainer Michael Freedman said. “I’ve always had faith in him. He’s been a terrific horse, probably the best horse I’ve ever prepared.”
Super Easy will head towards the $1 million G1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m) on May 19.
Bred by Gulf-based businessman Michael Ryan, Super Easy was offered by Esker Lodge at NZ Bloodstock’s 2010 Karaka Premier Sale and was purchased by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds for $140,000. He’s by The Oaks Stud’s champion sire Darci Brahma and is related to the Australian stakes winner Our Lukas (Generous) and Tiger Tees (Dubawi).
