Sunline Stakes farewells Lady Lynette

Tasmanian heroine Lady Lynette will bow out of racing in the G2 Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Lady Lynette (7m Ladoni – Queen’s Own by Coronation Day) has been catalogued as Lot 183 for the Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale on April 17.  She is only the third Tasmanian-owned horse, after Sydeston and El Mirada, to top $1 million in prizemoney.

The David and Scott Brunton-trained mare ended her Tasmanian campaign with a brilliant last-stride win in the Listed Vamos Stakes in Launceston last month.  It was her 14th win in 48 starts.

Queensland based owner Doug Green sold the mare after she finished fifth in the G1 Myer Classic at Flemington in October.  But the deal, reported to be in the vicinity of $500,000, fell through.

Lady Lynette cost just $13,000 out of the Armidale Stud draft at the 2006 Tasmanian Magic Millions.  She won the LR Vamos Stakes at Launceston three times and the best of her mainland victories came in the G2 VRC Blazer Stakes at Flemington and G3 Tesio Stakes at Moonee Valley.
