Stunning Singapore winner from Cape Falls

Perth Magic Millions graduate Sky Empathy produced a stunning finish to win on debut in Singapore on Friday night.

Sky Empathy (4g Fastnet Rock – Imaginaire by Fusaichi Pegasus) had been a handful for trainer Leslie Khoo after arriving in Singapore.  “He developed a bad habit of rearing at the jump,” Khoo explained at Kranji.  “It was frustrating because we knew he had plenty of potential.

“He gradually mended his ways and was on his best behaviour tonight.  It was a nice win and I’m very happy for the owners who have been very patient.”

Sky Empathy came with a withering burst along to rails to win the Initiation Plate (1200m) by a length from Hillbilly Bear (Thorn Park) and Lucky Dapper (Testa Rossa).  He was a $220,000 buy for Tiong Seng Ong at the 2010 Perth Magic Millions.

Consigned by Cape Falls Thoroughbreds as a yearling, he is from a successful Sunspeed family going back to second dam Beaux Art.  She was the best three year-old of her year in Perth winning the WA Derby and WA Oaks.  She transferred to the eastern states in 1995 and won an AJC St Leger, MVRC Feehan Stakes as well as being placed in a Caulfield Cup, Turnbull Stakes and Sydney Cup.

At stud, Beaux Art has thrown LR Grafton Cup winner Shamardashing (Shamardal), G3 Scahill Stakes winner Proart (Rock of Gibraltar) and WA St Leger winner Imaginaire (Fusaichi Pegasus).

Imaginaire foaled Sky Empathy first-up and her Flying Spur filly has been entered by Cape Falls Thoroughbreds as Lot 87 at the Perth Magic Millions on February 19.

Cape Falls owner Brett Fogarty has catalogued another five yearlings for sale on the same day.  They are by Hunter Valley stallions Henrythenavigator (Lot 29), Snitzel (35), Sebring (55), Flying Spur (73) and Exceed and Excel (141).
