Street Hero success at Mornington

Former Makybe shuttler Street Hero sired his first Australian-bred winner at Mornington on Sunday.

La Belle Mome (2f Street Hero – Suz La Douce by Festival Hall) claimed the breakthrough in the Blue Gum Maiden Plate (1200m).  She is a homebred for Maurice Messara’s Boomerang Breeding and won by a short neck thanks to a well-timed ride by Chris Symonds.

Street Hero (Street Cry) was among the leaders of his generation at two winning the G1 Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita and he was also G1 placed in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.  An injury curtailed his career at the conclusion of his juvenile year.

Street Hero retired to Vinery in Kentucky and sired 10 winners in his first northern crop last year headed by Santa Anita stakes winner Gabriel Charles.  He shuttled to Makybe for two seasons leaving just 55 southern foals.

La Belle Mome is related to Maurice Messara’s star sprinter Mic Mac (Statue of Liberty).  Her dam Suz La Douce delivered a Domesday colt in November 2011 and was pensioned in July 2012.
