Strategic filly tops Day 6 at Magic Millions

Strong selling was the order of the day when the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions sales and carnival came to a close on Tuesday.

A Strategic – Passerine filly topped the 90 yearlings sold on Day 6 at $30,000.  A half sister to Sydney winner Raqas, she was purchased by local buyer Dayle Grieves out of the Lyndhurst Stud Farm draft.

Tuesday’s trade reached 423,000 at an average price of $5,649 with a strong clearance rate of 84%.

A 52 lot Racehorse Sale followed the yearlings and it was dominated by a quality draft from Darley.  Its consignment supplied seven of the top eight prices for the afternoon.

A total of $650,000 was traded on 50 lots sold at an average of $9,375.  The clearance rate was 96%.

Darley’s Sydney winner Embarrassed (Exceed and Excel) topped the Racehorse Sale when purchased by WA buyer Kim Loxton for $57,000.

Well bred Lonhro filly Joyeux was next on the leader-board at $38,000.

“It’s been a big week of selling on the Gold Coast and the entire sale has been a great success,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.  “As was the case over the first five sessions of the yearling sale, it was really pleasing to see the clearance rate for both sessions so strong on Tuesday..”

The Magic Millions focus now turns to the Perth yearling sale from February 14.
