Under The Eiffel maintained his winning run this campaign with a dominant victory in the G3 MRC Alannah & Madeline Foundation Stakes (1500m) at Sandown on Saturday.
Under The Eiffel (4g Mossman – Spire by Danehill) started an odds-on favourite and was always travelling like a winner to defeat Sistine Angel and Orbit Express. “He’s pretty handy and I don’t think you’ve seen the best of him yet,” trainer Tony Vasil said. ”He might be the sort of horse we can set for the Stradbroke.”
Mossman had Buffering and Love Conquers All primed for this year’s Stradbroke but things didn’t fall into places for the talented duo. The Vinery sire could go into Queensland’s premier sprint with three frontline candidates next year.
Under The Eiffel signed off his own winter campaign with a second to Torio’s Quest in the G2 Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm in June. He resumed with an easy win on Seymour Cup day in October and then landed a plunge at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.
Under The Eiffel is a younger half-brother to four-time winner Alright Already (More Than Ready) and their dam Spire has a 2yo colt by Lonhro, a yearling colt by Authorized and she also foaled a Magic Albert colt on October 23. The Mossman – Danehill cross has also produced the stakes performers Hoofit and Mossriver.
Vasil bought the winner from Torryburn’s draft for $45,000 at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale. Torryburn Stud will have more stellar drafts for the 2012 majors including a Dubawi half-brother to last-start Singapore Group 2 winner Super Easy.
Mossman (Success Express) stands for a $27,500 (inc gst) service fee at Vinery.
