State City moves to Caines Stallion Station

Former Western Australian shuttler State City has transferred from Kentucky to Caines Stallion Station in Oklahoma.

Named Dubai’s Champion Sprinter in 2003 after winning the G1 Golden Shaheen, he originally stood alongside Storm Cat at Overbrook Farm before moving to Buck Pond Farm in Kentucky.

State City (Carson City) stood at John Andrew’s Alwyn Park for three seasons until 2007.  His flight to Perth created international headlines after the bona fides of his travelling companion were called into question.

A black stallion travelling under the name of Dubai Excellence was actually an Irish-bred son of Caerleon named Samood.  The real Dubai Excellence, a half-brother to world champion Dubai Millenium, ended up in the Ukraine instead of Western Australia.

State City has sired 45 winners of 127 races in Australia and last year’s LR Bunbury Stakes winner Reimbursement has been his only Sunspeed stakes winner to date.
