Starspangledbanner back in work for final campaign

Starspangledbanner will resume work this week with several options open to Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O’Brien.  The Aussie star was last seen beating all bar 100-1 outsider Sole Power in the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

Starspangledbanner has been installed a 9-4 favourite for the G1 Sprint Cup at Haydock and he also holds entries for the G1 Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp on Arc weekend and the G1 Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin in December.

Starspangledbanner could even run in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot which gives O’Brien another alternative before the Choisir colt is retired to Coolmore’s Irish base in 2011.

Coolmore is also close to securing a deal for star miler Canford Cliffs.  The Tagula colt would race on next year prior to taking up stud duties in 2012.
