Star Gold Front filly at Magic Millions

WA based Gold Front Thoroughbreds has catalogued a Fastnet Rock filly that’s tipped to star on Day 2 of the Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Owners Alan and Sue Olive will sell the Fastnet Rock – Awesome Planet filly as Lot 223 through the Newgate Farm draft on Thursday morning, January 9.  “She’s a superstar,” Newgate’s Henry Field said from the Gold Coast sale grounds.  “She would stack up at any sale in the world.”

The Olives sold her older brother for $575,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions.  He has been named Awesome Rock and is in work with Leon Corstens.

Fastnet Rock is Australia’s pre-eminent yearling sale sire and Awesome Planet was a stakes winner on both sides of the Tasman at Doomben and Ellerslie.  She was purchased by Gold Front after being passed-in for $520,000 at the 2011 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.

The mare foaled a Redoute’s Choice in August and the Olives bred her back to Pierro.

Newgate Farm will also sell a Denman colt for Gold Front on Saturday evening.  He is the first foal of Ms Chief Bound (Commands) and has been catalogued as Lot 600.

Darley sire Denman has created a huge impression with his first runners this season.  The Gai-Waterhouse trained colt Law won the LR Breeders’ Plate at Randwick, Bryan Guy claimed a debut victory with Grapevine at Doomben and Rob Heathcote made it three winners with Pinch River at Eagle Farm.

Pinch River will boost of the value of Gold Front’s Denman colt if he wins the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next Saturday afternoon.  He is assured of a place in the $2 million event and galloped strongly at Eagle Farm on Friday after recovering from a minor leg injury.

Gold Front has also catalogued 13 yearlings for the Perth Magic Millions on February 18 & 19.
