Stallion parade precedes Melbourne August Sale

The opening session of the Inglis Melbourne August Sale will be preceded by a parade of Victoria’s first season sires.  It will commence at 12 noon on Thursday, August 16.

The August Sale will be held at Oaklands Junction on Thursday and Friday, August 16 & 17.  The catalogue is now available online at

Immediately following the stallion parade at 12.30pm, the first of 114 Broodmares will be offered.  Covering stallions include Artie Schiller, Astronomer Royal, Bushranger, Domesday, Foreplay, Magnus, Not A Single Doubt, Reward For Effort, Turffontein, Von Costa de Hero, Wanted and Written Tycoon.

New season yearlings, unbroken stock, race fillies and racehorses will follow at 10.00am on Friday.  Makybe has entered a great selection of 10 new season yearlings including progeny by Al Maher, Casino Prince, Domesday, I Am Invincible and Purrealist.  The yearlings will be followed by unbroken stock and racehorse.

Significant drafts from Wadham Park, Darley, Eliza Park, Tony Noonan Racing and Wood Nook Farm have taken the number of racehorses entered to 164 lots.  Supplementary entries will be taken until Friday, August 11.

Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria is also hosting a parade of first season stallions at Moonee Valley at 4pm on Friday, August 24.  Other activities include an Industry Expo, Industry Forum and Victorian Owners & Breeders Awards.
