Stakes Signal from Florida

Ready Signal added another name to More Than Ready’s black-type roll-call in the LR Ten Palms Stakes (1600m) at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.

The Vinery champion has now sired 124 individual stakes winners.

Ready Signal (5m More Than Ready – Marwood by Marlin) deserved the elevation for her career long consistency including a close second in the LR Ginger Brew Stakes at Gulfstream Park.  The chestnut was rated perfectly along the rails by Edgar Prado and then charged up to defeat Byrama by a nose.

“She’s my high-maintenance chick in the barn,” Florida based owner-trainer Amy Tarrant said.  “I was very concerned before the race.  It was hot and she didn’t clean up her food.  I’m a mother, I worry about everything.  But she did a great job and Edgar gave her a great ride.”

Ready Signal was bred in Kentucky by Gulf Coast Farms and was a $190,000 buy at the Ocala 2YO Sale in March 2011.  Her dam Marwood was a Listed winner of the Golden Poppy Hcp and Autumn Leaves Hcp at Bay Meadows.

“She’s done well for us,” Tarrant added.  “She’s had some bad trips so it’s gratifying that she could win a stakes race.  I might send her to the breeding shed but, right now, I’m just going to enjoy it.  I love this horse.”
