South African fillip for War Chant

Yarradale Stud’s first crop of War Chant foals received another fillip on Friday when Dance to the Stars opened her black-type account in South Africa.

Dance to the Stars (5m Galileo – Dance On Wood by Woodman) claimed her fifth victory in the LR East Cape Paddock Stakes (1600m) at Fairview for owner-breeder Des Scott.

Scott sold her dam Dance On Wood to Yarradale for $17,000 at the 2009 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.  The mare won four races including an 1800m restricted event at Flemington and she was also beaten a half-neck by Sir Pentire in the G3 VRC St Leger at headquarters in 2003.

Dance On Wood has a rising two year-old filly by Swettenham stallion Soldier’s Tale and she is due to foal to War Chant in a month.

War Chant (Danzig) shuttles from Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky and heads a Yarradale roster of nine stallions at a $22,000 (inc gst) service fee.

Galileo stallion Discorsi also stands at Yarradale.  He was a stakes winning juvenile at Flemington and appeals as another future mate for Dance On Wood.
