Snitzel completes Marvellous March

Aliyana Tilde continued the marvellous winning month for Arrowfield Stud sire Snitzel in the G3 Epona Stakes (1900m) on Saturday.

Aliyana Tilde (4m Snitzel – Patronella by Mister C.) confirmed her Group 1 placings in the 2012 Vinery Stud Stakes and Australian Oaks were no flukes with a resolute victory at Rosehill.

Kembla Grange trainer Kerry Parker bought Aliyana Tilde for $50,000 from Arrowfield Stud at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.  Parker races the mare with his business manager Gordon Crockett.

Aliyana Tilde is the third stakes winner from the grand broodmare Patronella after the Geiger Counter sisters Smytzer’s Trish (dam of SW Swish Trish) and Stella Artois (dam of G2 Freestyle).  Patronella has a yearling colt by All American and is in foal to Beneteau.

The four-year-old mare is clearly defying her sprinting pedigree and Parker might even choose to push on to the 3200m Sydney Cup next month if the mare continues to improve.

Sweet Idea kicked off the sequence for Snitzel graduates from Arrowfield and Bellerive Studs in the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes on March 2.  Flying Snitzel followed up a week later when she flashed home to claim the G2 VRC Kewney Stakes at Flemington.

On March 16, it was the turn of outstanding 3YO Snitzerland to set a new 1000 metre track record in the G2 Challenge Stakes at Warwick Farm.

Aliyana Tilde is the 13th career stakes winner for sensational young sire Snitzel.  Apart from the four-timer on the eastern seaboard, his Perth based colt Petrol Power won the LR Supremacy Stakes at Ascot on March 9.

Snitzel has 18 yearlings in the upcoming Inglis Easter Sale include four lots in the Arrowfield Stud draft.
