Smart Prospects by Publishing

Raheen Stud freshman Publishing helped Gold Coast trainer David Kelly dominate the Ramornie Winners Maiden Plate (1006m) at Grafton on Tuesday.

Publishing colts Definite Prospect and Royal Scribe fought out a thrilling finish while their stablemate Flight King (NZ) was only a half-length away in third place.

Kelly bought Definite Prospect ($19,000) and Royal Scribe ($18,000) from Raheen’s draft at the 2012 QTIS yearling sale.

Definite Prospect (2c Publishing – Rare Prospect by Shinko Forest) was forced to travel four and five wide on debut but the youngster was still full of running in the straight.  He refused to wilt over the final furlong and kept grinding away to score by a short-head.

The winner is raced by Andrew Baker, Sheri Bucklin, Bill Duncan, Robyne Larsen, Jason Levi and Tony Tighe.  His dam Rare Prospect was a Toowoomba winner for Duncan and she is a half-sister to USA stakes winner Judge Connelly (Hero’s Honor).

Royal Scribe (2c Publishing – Dodgalady by Dodge) was also facing the starter for the first time and was only run down in the shadows of the post.  He is from a winning half-sister to the Raheen bred stakes performers Con’s Amy (Canny Lad) and Davcon (Anglia).

Publishing (Testa Rossa) has sired 3 winners and 7 placegetters among his first crop this season.  He stands at Raheen alongside G1 Epsom Hcp winner Captain Sonador and new recruit Golden Archer.
