Sister to Sangster for sale at Karaka

The full sister to G1 VRC Derby winner Sangster (NZ) will be on offer at NZB National yearling sales in January.

Sangster (3g Savabeel – Quinta Special by Spectrum) is trained by Trent Busuttin and was a winner at his first Australian start in August.  He followed up with placing in the LR Ming Dynasty Hcp, G1 Spring Champion Stakes and the G3 Norman Robertson Stakes before the classic triumph.

His sister will be offered by Rex Fell’s Goodwood Stud at Karaka.

Sangster is by Zabeel sire Savabeel who has well and truly hit his straps in recent months.  Among his top performers are the G1 Queensland Oaks winner Scarlett Lady, G2 winners Do Ra Mi, My Emotion and Tullamore, G3 Gloaming Stakes winner Strike the Stars and the immensely promising filly Dowager Queen.

Sangster is the 11th Group 1 winner from NZ Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale in the last five seasons and the third Group 1 Derby winner the Sale has produced since 2010.

The Karaka Ready to Run Sale is rapidly building a profile of producing classic winners – five of the seven stakes-winning Ready to Run graduates in Australia last season were three-year-olds.

Headlined by the G1 Queensland Derby winner Shootoff (Duelled), the Sale also saw Sworn to Secrecy (Keeper) take the G2 Emancipation Stakes and Folding Gear (Johar) win the G2 Autumn Classic.

Since 2000, the Ready to Run Sale has produced 14 Group 1 winners of 17 Group 1 races.  Among them are six individual Group 1 winning (NZ) three-year-olds:

Sangster (Savabeel) VRC Derby.
Shootoff (Duelled) Queensland Derby.
Military Move (Volksraad)  New Zealand Derby.
Eskimo Queen (Shinko King)  Coolmore Classic & Queensland Oaks.
Magic Cape (Magic Albert)  NZ 2000 Guineas.
Marju Snip (Marju)  Australasian Oaks.

Those 14 Group 1 winning Ready to Run graduates averaged under $100,000 and amassed an average of over $1 million in earnings.
