Former Aussie galloper Tenzing broke through for his biggest win in Singapore with a G3 victory in the Fortune Bowl on Tuesday night.
Tenzing (5g Catbird – Pinnacle by Shirley Heights) enjoyed the step up in distance to 2000 metres and the firmer footing to beat Mitre Peak in the final stride at Kranji.
Twice a winner in Victoria for Seymour trainer Butch Bourne, Tenzing still carries the Network Bloodstock colours and is now prepared at Kranji by Cliff Brown.
Now a four time winner in Singapore, Tenzing was purchased for $67,500 by Bourne from the draft of Attunga Stud at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions. Before transferring off-shore, he was beaten just over a length into sixth place in the G1 South Australian Derby.
“He’s had no luck at his last two starts,” Brown explained. “We have no specific plans but we may head to the QEII Cup.”
Danehill’s deceased Golden Slipper winner Catbird has sired 25 stakes winners and Tenzing is one of two winners for British bred Pinnacle. The dam earned black type when third in a Listed Cheshire Oaks.
