Silver Sass scores for Due Sasso

Trainer Tony Noonan will bring Silver Sass to town after the Due Sasso filly impressed at Northam on Thursday.

Silver Sass (3f Due Sasso – Silver Slipper by Zabaleta) won the Rog 40 Years In Oz Maiden (1100m) in the Avon Valley at just her second appearance.  “She drew poorly and was caught wide but showed real quality in getting to the line for a comfortable victory,” Noonan said.  “She is a lovely type of filly and I think her future looks bright.”

Silver Sass is the last foal of Silver Slipper and was retained by Mungrup Stud’s Gray Williamson to maintain the line.  She is a younger half-sister to stakes winning filly Scuffs and the immediate family also includes last-start G1 BTC Cup winner Sea Siren (Fastnet Rock) and Mungrup based stallion Oratorio (Stravinsky).

“Gray and her other part-owner Lex Piper have been very patient with Silver Sass,” Noonan added.  “I really appreciate their support for the filly and the stable.”

Due Sasso (Scenic) was a G3 winner of the 2006 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield for owner-breeder Des Pope and trainer Brian Mayfield-Smith but injury curtailed his career after just 8 starts.

Silver Sass is the 12th winner from his first crop.  Due Sasso stood for a fee of $5,500 (inc gst) in 2011.
