Sigley Clicks with Blackfriars

Trainer Vaughn Sigley has a great strike-rate with champion sire Blackfriars and he’s on the front-foot again with consistent stayer Daneclicked.

Daneclicked (5g Blackfriars – Clicked by Geiger Counter) captured his fourth city win this prep with a well-timed finish in the Italian Day Hcp (2000m) at Belmont on Saturday.  “He’s grown up mentally this year,” Sigley said.  “He used to fire up but is more settled now.

“We have a few options including the Strickland Stakes and, longer-term, there are races like the Perth and Bunbury Cups.”

The G3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) is a $125,000 weight-for-age event at Belmont Park on June 29.

Sigley also prepares Rohan who was last seen winning the G2 WA Derby and LR Belmont Guineas twelve months ago.  The Blackfriars gelding is on the comeback trail after recovering from an injured off foreleg.

Blackfriars stars God Has Spoken and Playing God are ready to resume for trainer Neville Parnham.  He has nominated the brothers for the G3 Roma Cup (1200m) this Saturday.

“Blackfriars served a book of 180 last year but he will be covering significantly less mares in 2013,” Scenic Lodge general manager Jeremy Smith said this week.  “His dominance in Western Australia is certainly similar to what Scenic achieved here.

“Breeders should contact us as a matter of priority to ensure their mares make the cut this year.”

Blackfriars is galloping towards a hat-trick of Sunspeed titles this season.  His yearlings have averaged up to $81,500 at the Perth Magic Millions which is a profitable mark-up on his 2013 service fee of $20,000 (plus gst).
