Showcasing colt Selected by John Chalmers

John Chalmers Bloodstock (FBAA) bought five Select Sale yearlings at Karaka with a top-price of $145,000 for the Showcasing half-brother to Singapore Group 3 winner Bahana (Lot 779).

His final bid on Friday was the Pentire sister to Ellerslie stakes winner Nigelissima.  Knocked down for $42,500 from Rich Hill Stud (Lot 946), she is also a three-quarter sister to Pentire’s Flemington Group 2 winner Zanna.

Chalmers had purchased two Savabeel fillies for total of $320,000 earlier in the week at Karaka Premier.  He also bought two fillies by Waikato Stud’s champion sire at Karaka last year for $340,000.  The duo – now named Magical Charm & Greetings – were purchased for Perth principal Bob Peters.

Bluegrass Bloodstock (FBAA) agent Lenny Russo bought yearlings by Pins and Rip Van Winkle at the Select Sale.  The Pins colt cost $80,000 and is from a half-sister to G2 Wakeful Stakes winner Thunder Lady.

Astute Bloodstock (FBAA) rounded outs its Karaka acquisitions with a Shocking – Jungle Barbie filly from Rich Hill for $75,000.  She is from an unraced daughter of G1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Hello Dolly.
