Sheer Talent retires to Carrington Park

Flemington Group 3 winner Sheer Talent has been retired to Carrington Park Stud in NSW.

A son of Redoute’s Choice from the Eight Carat family, he will stand at the Southern Highlands stud which has been home to Salade (Snitzel) and Roadhog (Shovhog).

Injuries restricted Sheer Talent’s career to 10 races for trainer Mark Kavanagh who bought him for $350,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  A juvenile winner second-up at Seymour, he returned as an autumn three year-old to win the G3 C S Hayes Stakes defeating Philippi and Albrecht at Flemington.

Sheer Talent then lined up in the G1 Australian Guineas and sat outside the leader from a wide gate to finish a gallant third behind Ferlax and You’re So Good.  He then stretched out to 2040 metres in the G2 Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley and was beaten a nose by Philippi.

Carrington Park owner Peter Beauman will stand Sheer Talent for a $4,400 (inc gst) service fee.
