Shares in Bel Esprit highlight Melbourne Sale

Two shares in Black Caviar’s sire Bel Esprit are among 88 supplementary lots added to the Inglis Melbourne August Sale this Friday, August 21.

Proceedings at Oaklands Junction will get underway at 10am with a parade of Victorian first-season sires Warrior’s Reward, Hampton Court, Can The Man & Jimmy Creed (Spendthrift), Cluster (Larneuk), Rock Hero (Lauriston Farm), Warhorse (Bombora Downs) and London Bridge (Ridgeview).

“The sale has several outstanding lots on offer including a reduction by Darley Australia,” Inglis Victorian bloodstock manager Simon Vivian said.  “It’s racing stock always generates significant competition from buyers looking for the next Sonntag.”

Darley sold subsequent Group 1 winner Sonntag at the 2013 August Sale and it will offer 24 lots including lightly raced fillies by Street Cry, Lonhro, Hard Spun, Shamardal and Exceed And Excel.

Disappointingly Melbourne Polytechnic, the governing body of Northern Lodge Stud, has decided to withdraw all of its catalogued broodmares and stallion shares from the sale.

“We have been working closely with the team at Northern Lodge and have been marketing their dispersal sale extensively to our client base,” Vivian explained.  “The withdrawal is an unfortunate result for what is shaping up to be a great Sale overall.”

Many well performed gallopers will be sold on Friday including Our Voodoo Price, a winner at Caulfield last Saturday, plus other Chris Waller trained in-form gallopers Danchai, Rugged Cross and Eigelstein.

The Sale’s supplementary entries include 19 Broodmares (Lots 195-213), two shares Bel Esprit (Lots 214 & 215), yearlings, unbroken and racing stock from Lindsay Park Racing, Range Lee Thoroughbreds and Eliza Park International.

Seven stallion nominations have generously been donated to Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) with proceeds to support the Victorian breeding industry.  These nominations (Lots 68 to 74) are to Helmet, Written Tycoon, Hampton Court, Toorak Toff, Puissance de Lune, Stryker and Statue Of Liberty.

The full catalogue, including all 88 supplementary entries, is available online at inglis.com.au and on the Inglis Sales iPad App.  Hard-copy supplementary catalogues will be available at Oaklands Junction on Friday.
