Session-topper slips at Inglis Scone Sale

Friday’s Inglis Scone Broodmare Sale saw 126 lots change hands for $837,850 off a clearance rate of 84%.

Top price of $55,000 was paid by M & R Services for the Entrepreneur mare Quillionaire.  She is a half-sister to Group 1 Queensland Oaks winner Zagalia and is carrying a positive test to Lonhro.

Quillionaire’s value has slipped significantly since James Bester bought her for $290,000 at the 2007 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.  She has been bred to Coolmore and Darley stallions for the last three years by Sydney-based media entrepreneur Tim Hughes.

Quillionaire’s current 4YO is a Fastnet Rock mare named Fast On Aire who was placed in a Scone maiden on August 6.  Her 3YO is Lindsay Park’s unraced Flying Spur filly Yeahdad.

Second on the Scone leader board at $46,000 was Exceed And Excel mare Cerinthe.  She is a half-sister to G1 winning filly Victory Vein and was knocked down Patinack Farm.

Blue Sky Thoroughbreds finished as the sale’s leading buyer with four mares for $111,000.  Unsold mares are still available for sale via the Inglis Make an Offer service.
